Why Rabbittown Antiques and Artisans?

Our goal is to be a creative, community-minded center for Danville. We love artwork, crafts, antiques and vintage items and want those who share our love to have access to affordable items for their homes or businesses. We are planning for a bright, airy environment, with tastefully designed vendor spaces that complement the casual elegant atmosphere we wish to create. Rabbittown Antiques and Artisans is NOT a rummage venue or flea market. Vendor agreements outline inclusive criteria for participation in our store.

In our location at 419 East Main Street in Danville, Illinois, your works or products will receive excellent exposure via large picture windows in this 1932 building with soaring decorative tin ceilings. The building’s charm is greatly enhanced by McDonald Street, an original brick street on the West side of the building. Ample parking is available in our lot and street parking on McDonald is plentiful during business hours. With approximately 3000 square feet of retail space, Rabbittown Antiques and Artisans will be large enough to have something for everyone without overwhelming the shopper. There is also a plan to set aside classroom or event space within the building to draw in additional business.

We feel that by working with other store owners in the area, we can complete a strong antiques and arts corridor along I-74 from St. Joseph, to Danville, to Covington, Indiana. Our intention is to give greater priority and exposure to Illinois and Western Indiana vendors to give the store a true connection to the local area. Because we are located in the Rabbittown neighborhood of Danville, we plan to become a social/arts destination for our neighbors. We will soon release a list of proposed events to be held at the store at least monthly. Some projected events include outdoor markets, arts and crafts classes, holiday events, football “widow” specials, and wine tasting.

Currently there are exciting economic development activities within Danville, one of which is the pending riverboat casino. Rabbittown Antiques and Artisans is located in close proximity to proposed casino sites. The bill granting Danville a Casino has been approved by the legislature and is on Governor Quinn’s desk for signature. We anticipate even greater traffic and exposure for the business on Main street should the proposed casino become a reality. Vendors can become well established at Rabbittown Antiques and Artisans before the economic boom Danville is expecting.
